Husband jailed for assaulting and threatening wife’s lover

DUBAI // A husband has been sentenced to three months in jail after being found guilty of assaulting and threatening his wife’s lover.

The 49-year-old Indian marketing manager twisted the victim’s arm before threatening him if he shared any pictures of his wife.

The defendant denied both charges in Dubai Criminal Court.

On June 20 last year, the husband visited the 48-year-old accountant at his workplace in Al Jaddaf and asked him to hand over his mobile phone containing pictures of his wife. When the man refused, the husband tried to pull the phone from his hand, twisted his arm and tried to strangle him.

The husband then threatened the man before running away, after which the accountant reported the incident to police.

A medical report said the victim was left with a 15 per cent permanent disability in his shoulder.
