Sharjah Antiquities Authority has completed major work to develop areas around three historical sites in the emirate. The authority said the teams carried out maintenance work in areas surrounding the Kalba Fort, the Al Talaa Tower and the Bu Daniq Tower. The restoration project is divided into two phases. In the first phase, areas around the archaeological sites will be developed. The work includes putting up fences, adding lights, seating areas, signboards and landscaping. This phase is expected to complete by the end of 2020. The second phase will include the restoration of the archaeological buildings. This phase will begin next year. Al Talaa Tower is located in the village of Al Khan in Sharjah. The tower was used as a resting place by visitors and travellers in the olden times. The cylindrical tower is made up of marine stones and is near the sea. Bu Daniq Tower is near Sharjah Airport while Kalba Fort was once an important military site.
