Emiratisation in the private sector up for discussion

An interactive forum launched by Mohammed bin Rashid will accept suggestions and proposals.

The Ministry of Presidential Affairs has proposed the topic "Emiratisation in the Private Sector" for discussion at the interactive forum Ihtimam.

Ihtimam was launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, during last month’s Government Summit in Dubai.

The Ihtimam team announced last week that proposals attracting enough public votes would be passed as recommendations to higher authorities.

Nasser Al Hamli, assistant under secretary for government coordination at the ministry, said its topic would be open for discussion for 10 working days.

After that, proposals would become recommendations open to public voting for another 10 days.

The most popular recommendations would be presented to the relevant authorities.

Mr Al Hamli called on citizens and human resources experts to offer innovative ideas and suggestions to promote and strengthen the Emirati workforce’s integration in the private sector.

The Ihtimam team said the topic had received wide public interest, with more than 500 suggestions to encourage Emiratis into the private sector.

The team showed a video that showed 88 per cent of the Emiratis workforce was in the government and semi-government sectors, and only 12 per cent work in the private sector.

It said there were 250,000 private sector jobs with benefits packages that would be suitable for Emiratis.
