The Zayed Heart Humanitarian Mobile Hospital has conducted 150 heart operations in Sudan under the supervision of UAE, French and Sudanese voluntary medical teams.
During the mission in Khartoum, the hospital delivered diagnostic, surgical, therapeutic and preventive services to heart patients, particularly children and elderly people.
A joint humanitarian project between the Zayed Giving Initiative, the Saudi-German Hospital and Dar Al Ber Society, in collaboration with the Sudanese ministries of health and social security and Sudan Volunteer Centre, the state-of-the-art hospital is the first of its kind in the world to conduct open heart and cardiac catheterisation surgeries, reported state news agency Wam.
Salah Al Basha, a Sudanese cardiologist, said 24 medical camps would be launched to conduct more than 1,000 free surgeries in different governorates of Sudan.
