UAE doctors use Ministry of Health Twitter account as a smart clinic

The Ministry of Health has launched a monthly "Smart Clinic" on its Twitter account to respond to enquiries and educate the public using social media.

Held to Marking World Tuberculosis Day, which takes place on March 24 each year, the Ministry of Health received enquiries about the disease that were answered by Mohammed Youssuf, a doctor at Sharjah’s Al Qassimi Hospital.

Dr Amin Al Amiri, the assistant undersecretary for medical practice and licensing, said the initiative has been launched because there was a need to increase health awareness among the public and deliver the ministry’s services to customers online.

The Smart Clinic will initially operate on a monthly basis but there is a plan to turn it into a weekly clinic in the future, Dr Al Amiri noted. He added that it will focus on raising awareness on world events and answer enquiries about chronic and most common diseases.
