Thousands expected at Abu Dhabi breast cancer run

ABU DHABI // Thousands are expected to take part in a charity run at Zayed Sports City on October 16 in aid of breast cancer awareness.

The Pink Run, which has 5 kilometre and 10km races and is open to men and women, sends out the message that anyone can be affected by cancer.

“This is a very special race as we know how important the cause is for those taking part,” said Steve Watson, managing partner of Gulf Multi Sport, which is organising the event along with Abu Dhabi Striders.

“Many of those running will have someone close to them who has been affected directly or indirectly by cancer.”

Free breast cancer screenings, courtesy of Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank’s Wellness-On-Wheels mobile mammogram unit, will also be offered to participants

All proceeds from the race will go towards breast cancer research.
