A new drive-through Covid-19 vaccination and testing centre was launched in Al Ain. The dedicated facility, made up of two lanes for immunisation and four for PCR nasal swab and DPI laser tests, has capacity for up to 200 vaccinations and 800 screenings for the virus each day. Based in the Al Sarouj area of the city, the centre is operated by Ambulatory Healthcare Services – part of Abu Dhabi Health Services (Seha). It offers the Sinopharm vaccine. The venue is open from Saturday to Thursday, from 10am to 4pm and 8pm to 1am during Ramadan. Those hours will switch to 8am to 8pm, Saturday to Thursday, at the end of the holy month. Ambulatory Healthcare Services also announced the closure of the Seha drive-through screening centre in Al Masoudi, Al Ain, effective from Friday, May 30. "In line with the community's needs, we are pleased to announce the opening of a new centre in Al Sarouj with extended opening hours and an expanded capacity," said Mohamed Hawas Al Sadid, chief executive of Ambulatory Healthcare Services. "The centre boasts a new design utilising shipping containers, which are more durable and adaptable, and provide a very high level of heat and cold resistance. They are also easier to move, reuse and maintain." UAE citizens and residents can book a vaccine or screening appointment through Seha's app. The centre further bolsters the UAE's efforts to vaccinate the public and achieve herd immunity. More than 10.5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered since December as part of a nationwide immunisation drive. Mass testing also remains key to efforts to control the spread of the virus. More than 44 million Covid-19 tests have been conducted since the outbreak began, with daily totals regularly surpassing 200,000.
