Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, has praised the work of a UAE cancer charity, the Friends of Cancer Patients Society, and its collaborations with the Union for International Control.
According to state news agency Wam, he met with Dr Cary Adams, chief executive officer of the UICC and chairperson of the Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) Alliance, who is currently visiting the UAE.
“These collaborative efforts between a UAE society, Friends of Cancer Patients Society, that has exceptional experience in helping cancer patients and their families, and a highly experienced and professional United Nations organisation, the UICC, has helped to alleviate the ordeal of many cancer patients, enhanced their recovery opportunities and we hope, put a smile on their faces,” Sheikh Nahyan said.
Sheikh Nahyan also highlighted the efforts of Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, in spreading awareness about cancer and helping patients psychologically and financially throughout their treatment.
