Emirati walks 100km to raise money for autistic children

DUBAI // An Emirati who walked the 100km from Abu Dhabi to Dubai over two days has raised Dh35,000 to help children with autism.

This was Nasser Ibrahim’s eighth walkathon in as many years and his latest effort resulted in a donation for the Dubai Autism Centre from his employer Mashreq Bank.

Mr Ibrahim reached Mashreq’s Dubai Internet City office on Sunday afternoon after starting from Abu Dhabi Airport on Thursday afternoon. “Every year, I look at a different centre to offer support to and I am pleased this year it is the Dubai Autism Centre,” Mr Ibrahim said, adding that he was looking forward to another walkathon next year. “I am proud to have had the opportunity to do this walkathon once again and for being able to raise awareness about autism.”

The non-profit Dubai Autism Centre works to integrate children with autism into the community.
