Coronavirus: UAE reports 747 new cases from 38,000 tests

Two people of different nationalities who tested positive for Covid-19 died due to complications

UAE officials announced another 747 cases of Covid-19 infection on Friday, bringing the country’s total to 21,831.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention said it conducted an additional 38,000 tests in the Emirates.

The figures also showed that in the last 24 hours, another 398 patients recovered from the virus. To date, the UAE has recorded 7,338 recoveries.

The authorities announced that two people of different nationalities tested positive for Covid-19 died due to complications. This brings the total death toll to 210.

The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.

In another announcement on Friday, the Roads and Transport Authority announced new precautionary measures to be followed by passengers riding the Dubai Metro.

In a tweet, the transport authority said: "With the resumption of #DubaiMetro trips, #RTA has issued new preventive measures in the station, including restricting the number of elevator use to two people per elevator.”

And in Abu Dhabi, the Department of Economic Development also outlined six steps that employers must adhere to when welcoming employers back during the return to work phase.

Among some of the guidelines, included parents being permitted to work from home while schools are closed and those over 60 not being eligible to return to work.

Rashed Al Balooshi, undersecretary of ADDED, said the guidelines have been developed according to government advice to "curb the spread of Covid-19".

He stressed the importance of implementing the guidelines in order to prepare for businesses reopening.
