The UAE reported 1,563 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, taking the total tally of infections to 122,273. There were 1,704 new recoveries during the past 24 hours. So far, 115,068 patients have been given the all clear. The Emirates carried out 120,351 additional tests in the past 24 hours. Officials reported one death, pushing the number of mortalities to 475. There are 6,730 active cases in the country. On Thursday, Dubai opened the world’s first dedicated airside centre for Covid-19 vaccines. Set up by Emirates airline at its SkyCargo centre in Dubai South, it will store vaccines flown in from global makers. It can store about 10 million vaccine vials and prepare shipments for regional and worldwide distribution. In its latest round of inspections, Dubai Economy warned an outlet after staff failed to place floor markings to help customers maintain social distancing. Globally, coronavirus cases have passed 41.5 million, with many countries reporting record-high numbers over past weeks. The world death toll has passed 1.13 million and there have been more than 28.1 million recoveries.
