The UAE reported 1,210 cases of Covid-19 on Sunday. The latest figures took the number of infections to 150,345 since the beginning of the outbreak.

Another 691 patients were cleared of the virus, taking the recovery tally to 143,252.

Authorities said two patients died, raising the number of fatalities to 530.

Health officials said 126,916 tests were carried out in the previous 24 hours.

There are now 6,563 active cases in the UAE. The figure increased in November as new infections exceeded recoveries.

The UAE has carried out more than 14.9 million tests since the outbreak began, part of a mass-screening strategy to limit the spread of the virus.

Globally, more than 53 million Covid-19 cases have been recorded, while the global death toll exceeds 1.3 million. About 35.5 million patients have recovered from the condition.
