The UAE recorded 399 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, bringing its total to 68,020.

A further 316 people have beaten the virus, with the overall recovery tally climbing to 59,070.

The death toll in the Emirates now stands at 378 after one more patient died.

The latest infections were identified after 57,419 daily tests were conducted.

Close to 6.7 million Covid-19 tests have been carried out nationwide since the outbreak began.

Case figures have been steadily rising in the UAE in recent days, prompting officials to call on the public to act responsibly to help drive down infection rates.

During a regular media briefing on Monday, government spokesman Dr Omar Al Hammadi said some members of the public were failing to comply with safety measures.

"There have been pictures on social media of gatherings at hotels, without precautionary measures, which contradicts what we are working on," he said at the UAE's regular televised briefing.

"All members of society must be responsible and comply with these measures."
