The UAE has recorded 1,930 new cases of Covid-19 and four more deaths. The latest daily numbers bring the country’s total to 497,154 infections and 1,554 deaths. Another 1,503 people recovered from the virus, with the total number of recoveries now at 479,566. On Sunday, the Ministry of Health and Prevention said 203,347 people were tested for Covid-19 over a 24-hour period. Health officials said 41,767,180 tests have been carried out in the UAE since the beginning of the outbreak. There are 16,034 active cases in the country. Authorities on Saturday said 111,779 vaccine doses were given in the last 24 hours, to reach 9,601,463 million total doses. This represents 97.08 doses per 100 people. More Dubai residents are now eligible to receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Covid-19 patients who displayed mild symptoms and made a full recovery can have the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine after finishing their isolation period, Dubai Health Authority said on Saturday. Breastfeeding women and those planning to conceive can also receive the vaccine, DHA said. As part of an expanded criteria announced for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, patients who have recovered do not need to wait for three months. They can take the vaccine on completion of their post-recovery isolation period, provided the infection was mild or asymptomatic.
