The UAE recorded 1,928 new coronavirus infections on Monday.

These cases brought the country’s overall tally to 485,675. Another 1,719 people beat the virus, taking total recoveries to 470,175.

Two more died people from complications arising from Covid-19, bringing the death toll to 1,533, while active cases stand at 13,967.

Cases have remained under 2,000 for four days in a row.

The UAE’s vaccination programme is one of the fastest in the world.

Authorities on Sunday administered 30,430 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, crossing the nine million threshold.

At least 9,005,444 doses have been given, which represents a rate of 91.05 doses per 100 people.

Strict measures designed to safeguard public health remain in force, with masks mandatory and large public gatherings prohibited. These measures will continue into Ramadan.

Meanwhile, the UAE aims to pay for 100 million meals in 20 countries across the region.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid unveiled the drive to ensure people do not go hungry.

The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai said the effect of the pandemic continued to be felt.

He said there were 820 million people undernourished globally, including 52 million in the Middle East and North Africa region.
