The UAE reported 1,174 new cases of Covid-19 on Saturday, taking the total tally of infections to 149,135. Health officials also announced that 678 patients were given the all clear taking the total number of recoveries to 142,561. The death toll in the Emirates remained at 528 with no new deaths announced. The number of active cases across the country now stands at 6,046. According to the Ministry, the infected individuals are from various nationalities, are in a stable condition, and are receiving the necessary care. Almost 15 million tests have been conducted nationwide to date. Over the past 24 hours, the UAE carried out 125,915 additional tests on residents and tourists. The Ministry said it was stepping up testing rates as part of efforts to limit the spread of the virus. On Thursday, the UAE was added to Britain's air travel corridor list. Now, passengers flying to the UK from the UAE after 4am on November 14 will no longer need to self-isolate for 14 days on arrival. The announcement was welcome news for expats in the UAE as many had cancels plans to travel home for Christmas due to the previously enforced quarantine period. At present, passengers heading on leisure holidays from the UK to the UAE will have to wait as until after December 2, as England is still in lockdown.
