The UAE recorded 1,141 Covid-19 cases on Saturday, bringing its total to 141,032.

A further 672 patients were given the all-clear as the recovery tally climbed to 137,608.

The death toll in the Emirates rose to 514 after four more patients died.

The latest cases were detected after an additional 132,347 daily tests were conducted.

The UAE has carried out close to 14 million tests since the outbreak began as part of a mass screening strategy aimed at detecting infections early to help curb the spread of the virus.

The total of active cases across the country has risen to 2,910 - after falling below 2,000 on Wednesday - due to new infections exceeding recoveries over the past three days.

Globally, the number of coronavirus cases is approaching 50 million.

As of Saturday, there had been more than 1.25 million deaths of patients who had contracted the virus.

More than 35 million people have recovered from Covid-19.
