A fraction of people now tested in Abu Dhabi are found to have Covid-19, new figures show.

In Abu Dhabi City, just 0.3 per cent of those recently screened had the virus, down from about 1 per cent in June.

The figure for Al Ain was 0.6 per cent and 0.4 per cent for Al Dhafra.

Below 1 per cent is regarded as a significant marker in tackling the outbreak.

The government released the figures on Tuesday as widespread testing continued on the emirate.

On Monday, officials said a door-to-door testing campaign would continue until the 'Covid-19 fight is won'

“We will continue and fight til the end, until we reach zero cases,” said Mansoor Al Qubaisi, an official from Seha, Abu Dhabi's public hospitals operator.

In Abu Dhabi city, the Mussaffah industrial district was subject to intensive testing. Police, paramedics and volunteers also went door-to-door in high density areas including Tourist Club, Khalidiyah, Al Najda, Al Zafaranah and parts of the Corniche.
