Abu Dhabi said on Wednesday that the rate of Covid-19 infections in the emirate is as low as 0.39 per cent of total tests. The percentage of confirmed cases per total tests is over the past 3 months. Abu Dhabi Media Office posted the data on Twitter on Wednesday. The rate of 0.39 per cent means that only one in 256 tests led to a positive result during the period. The overall rate of infections for the UAE is typically at about 1 per cent, which is also low compared with other countries. On Wednesday, the UAE reported 1,214 new Covid-19 cases from 114,653 daily tests, raising its tally to 145,599 infections. A further 741 patients recovered from the virus as the overall tally climbed to 140,442 . The death toll in the Emirates now stands at 520 after two more people died. Close to 14.5 million tests have been conducted since the pandemic started. The data on Wednesday came from Abu Dhabi's National Screening Programme, free door-to-door testing and other initiatives to curb the spread of Covid-19. Abu Dhabi's Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Committee announced the testing would continue to safeguard public health. Officials have repeatedly called on the public to follow the rules such as wearing masks and adhering to physical distancing. Dr Saif Al Dhaheri, spokesperson for National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, said the country was planning its recovery from the pandemic. "The success of the planning stage for recovery is largely dependent on society," he said. "One of the duties of the individual is to continue to commit to preventive measures as the responsibility rests with everyone."
