A coffee shop in Ajman has been shut down for a second time – after being caught operating while still under a closure order for flouting Covid-19 rules. Police took action after staff were spotted serving customers while the one-month suspension was in place. A spot check carried out by the force and the emirate’s department of economic development found stickers denoting the business was closed had been removed. Brig Sheikh Sultan Al Nuaimi, Ajman’s police chief and head of the emirate’s Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Team, said the first closure was imposed due to the establishment operating after midnight and failing to follow safety measures. “It was shut down for a period of one month the first time,” he said. “They had removed the sticker without permission and resumed work. “Therefore, it was fined Dh50,000 for flouting safety regulations and another Dh10,000 for removing the closure stickers, and was shut down again.”
