The son of First Cpl Saeed Matar Al Kaabi, who died last week while serving with the UAE Armed Forces, has had his dreams of becoming a fighter pilot realized for a day. On Thursday, a video supplied by the Crown Prince Court - Abu Dhabi showed Matar being taken to the First Shaheen Squadron in the Western Air Command Headquarters in Abu Dhabi where he was dressed in an army uniform compete with his own name tag reading 'Matar S. Al Kaabi'. The boy was taken on a tour of the headquarters to look at photos of fighter pilots before having a go in a fighter jet simulator himself. Next he was seated in a real plane and awarded an honourary certificate for his endeavours. "Baba Mohammed, I'm ready," he said, referring to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. On Monday, the boy accompanied Sheikh Saif bin Zayed in his helicopter after the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior visited the Al Kaabi family in Fujairah to offer his condolences. "Today at the condolences for the martyr Saeed Matar Al Kaabi, his son, Matar, honoured me by joining me in the pilot's cabin," Sheikh Saif said on Twitter. "He told me to pass on his regards to Bu Khalid (Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces)". In the video, Sheikh Saif asks the boy where he would like to go, "No where far, to the sea and back" he said. Al Kaabi was killed while performing his national duty as part of the Saudi-led coalition's Operation Restoring Hope in Yemen. His body arrived on board a military aircraft of the armed forces, followed by a special military ceremony at the Al Bateen Executive airport, in the presence of several senior officers.
