UAE leaders meet at Union House on National Day



DUBAI // Senior members of the UAE leadership met at Union House on Friday to pledge to the people of the nation their ongoing determination to strengthen the union.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, were joined by members of the Federal Supreme Council and the Rulers of the emirates.

They met in the same hall where the country’s Founding Fathers had gathered 45 years go.

After the meeting the leaders inaugurated a Union Museum.

Those present reiterated their commitment to bring in a new phase in the nation’s development where local governments work as one team to help achieve common objectives.

They also said that under the leadership of Sheikh Khalifa, the President, the UAE was experiencing the brightest period in its history, enjoying top spot in several development indexes. Despite the passage of time, the country’s aspirations were high and the values and principles of the union constantly guided the nation and the spirit of the union would always motivate the country to work for the best, they said.

In Abu Dhabi, Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, and Egypt’s first lady, Intisar El Sisi, attended a ceremony marking the day at Zayed Sports City. Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El Sisi visited Wahat Al Karama, built to commemorate the UAE’s heroes.
