The UAE's health minister held talks with his Israeli counterpart over partnerships in medical and scientific research and joint efforts to tackle the coronavirus pandemic. Abdulrahman Al Owais discussed plans to bolster links across the health sector, specifically in the pharmaceutical industry and medical research, during a phone call with Yuli Edelstein on Monday. The two ministers outlined ways the nations could work together to combat Covid-19, with vaccine trials and virus treatments on the agenda. "Due to the circumstances imposed by the pandemic, there must be concerted efforts in the field of medical research," said Mr Al Owais. He welcomed the opportunity for The Emirates and Israel to work together on the pressing public health crisis for the benefit of both countries and the wider international community.
