UAE delivers Dh3.7m of urgent aid to needy in Pakistan

The UAE has sent $US1 million (Dh3.67m) of urgently needed aid to Pakistan.

Pakistani families are suffering after a recent spate of cold weather, and are struggling amid food shortages, a lack of shelter, and unemployment.

The Government has asked for aid to be distributed to 20,000 displaced families in camps in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, north and south Waziristan, and Bajaur.

The UAE Assist Pakistan group initially planned to provide 1,600 tonnes of food for a month. Baskets containing 80 kilograms of assorted items will be handed out.
