The UAE Consulate in Melbourne issued a warning to citizens living in the city in the wake of Friday’s terror attack.
Hassan Khalif Shire Ali, 30, set fire to a gas-laden truck and stabbed three people, before he was shot dead by police.
Authorities said he was inspired by ISIS, but did not have direct links to the terrorist group.
The UAE Consulate in Melbourne tweeted a message to Emiratis living and studying in the city on Friday.
It said: “We ask all our citizens studying abroad in Melbourne to take extreme precaution after the security breach that took place in the city centre.
"We ask that everyone remain as far as possible from the area of the incident.
"Follow the security guidelines issued by the security forces in the area."
