The UAE is committed to upholding basic principles of human rights and advancing international efforts that ensure all people of the world live in peace, security and welfare, according to Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development.
He said: “The UAE’s efforts to promote values of tolerance, moderation and respect for and protection of religions regionally and internationally stems out of recognition ... that communities of true faith adherents share a common universal vision and that every human life has a value.”
Sheikh Nahyan was speaking at the International Seminar on Interfaith Harmony and Tolerance, in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, reported Wam, the state news agency.
The ministry is organising the two-day event with International Islamic University Malaysia and other partners.
“The United Arab Emirates has a deep respect for peace and tolerance and a strong desire to understand the world around us,” Sheikh Nahyan said. “We wish for a world where men and women with a wide variety of cultural and religious beliefs act as good human beings. Good human beings work for peace and cooperation, prosperity, and the well-being of society.”
