Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak has supported UAE participation in a United Nations international bazaar to raise funds for underprivileged women and children across the globe.
The Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation, and Head of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood said that UN efforts continue to alleviate the suffering of women and children in poor countries.
She said that her sponsorship of UAE participation in the annual charity bazaar stems from her belief in the importance of working with the UN to expand its humanitarian outreach for women and children, state news agency Wam reported.
Obaid Salem Al Zaabi, UAE Permanent Representative to the UN, praised Sheikha Fatima for her humanitarian efforts.
The UAE pavilion at the bazaar, which showcased traditional Emirati foods, attires and a selection of handicrafts, attracted a large turnout of Geneva-based diplomats and officials.
Last year’s UN international bazaar raised funds for 60 projects for women and children in 38 countries.
