Funeral services for Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed, the President's Representative, will be held in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday. President Sheikh Khalifa's brother will be laid to rest at Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed The First Mosque in Al Bateen after dhuhr (midday) prayers, according to Janaza UAE – an online funeral announcement service. Sheikh Sultan died while undergoing treatment abroad on Monday. His body was due to arrive in the UAE on Tuesday night. The Al Nahyan family will receive condolences on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in Al Mushrif Palace in Abu Dhabi. On Wednesday, the final day of official nation-wide mourning, condolences will be held between Asr and Maghrib prayers (3.20pm and 5.40pm). On Thursday and Friday, condolences will be accepted between 10am and midday prayers, and again between Asr and Maghrib prayers. Sheikh Sultan was born in Al Ain in 1955 as the second son of Sheikh Zayed, the Founding Father of the UAE. He was educated at Millfield School in Somerset and attended Sandhurst Military Academy. He previously held the post of Deputy Prime Minister but was then appointed the President's Representative – a post he held until his death. Sheikh Sultan was also the patron of an annual heritage festival held at Sweihan racecourse in Abu Dhabi. The Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Heritage Festival includes camel and saluki races, a camel beauty contest and traditional markets that sell handicrafts and hosted traditional activities.
