DUBAI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, will lead a questions and answers session on the revival of development in the Arab World next week.
The session will take place during the World Government Summit, which runs from February 12 to 14.
At the event, Sheikh Mohammed will share his leadership experience and present his views on the Arab region, its current state, future and potential for development.
He will take questions, feedback and input from people across the Arab World through social media.
The discussion will focus on the Arab region at a time when it is facing substantial challenges on all fronts, reported state news agency Wam.
Announcing the panel discussion in a series of tweets, Sheikh Mohammed said a dialogue on the future of the region was important.
He said the goal of the hashtag #ArabFuture was to spark a truly pan-Arab dialogue on development, inviting wide-ranging public participation.
“I invite anyone from across Middle East to contribute questions, ideas or insights on #ArabFuture to be discussed in the session,” the Dubai Ruler said.
One of his tweets posed the question as to whether there is hope for development in the Arab World and if it is possible to shape a new future.
Sheikh Mohammed tweeted: “My personal experience in Dubai and the UAE leads me to believe in the potential of this region and its people”.
He is no stranger to using technology to enhance public service and good governance.
With more than 15 million followers across several social media platforms, Sheikh Mohammed is considered one of the top five most influential global political leaders.
In 2013, he took questions from the audience at the first World Government Summit. The discussion was deemed a unique step taken by an Arab leader and led to the publication of Flashes of Thought.
