DUBAI // A six-year old girl from Sharjah has become an overnight internet sensation after a short video of her practising a speech for her school assembly was re-tweeted by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister. Emirati Muhra Ahmed Al Shehi had picked up a line from one of Sheikh Mohammed’s speeches and was filmed rehearsing the sentence for a performance at Sharjah Model School for Girls. Once posted online by her family, the video was viewed more than 41,000 times on Instagram, prompting Dubai’s Ruler to make an appeal on social media to track down the girl so he could visit her in person. “This little girl impressed me, God bless her. I want to visit her, does anyone know who she is?” Sheikh Mohammed’s tweet said. A meeting was soon arranged, and Dubai Media Office took to Twitter to share photographs and a video of Sheikh Mohammed asking the youngster to repeat her line personally for him, before complimenting her dress. “You have captured people’s attention, they told me about you! Your dress is beautiful, what were you saying in the video?” Sheikh Mohammed asked. Later, he posted again on Twitter about their interaction, with young Muhra clearly leaving a lasting impression, calling her the “queen of children”. nwebster@thenational.ae
