Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, received a phone call from US President Donald Trump on Thursday. The two discussed ways of strengthening bilateral relations and increasing co-operation between both countries. They also talked about issues of common interest, according to a tweet from Sheikh Mohamed. Sheikh Mohamed last visited the US in May 2017 for a two-day trip. There he met Mr Trump, who described Sheikh Mohamed as "a very special person" who loves his country and loves the US. At the White House, the two leaders discussed bilateral co-operation, including on counter terrorism and efforts to contain Iran’s regional ambitions, as well as bilateral trade and investment. Their last reported phone call was in April last year when the two spoke about Iran and Qatar. A statement from the White House disclosed details of the phone call in which they had discussed regional developments.
