Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed reaffirmed the UAE's mission to promote international stability after meeting the organisers of a global inter-faith gathering hosted in Abu Dhabi this year. The Human Fraternity meeting, which was organised by the Muslim Council of Elders and attended by more than 700 religious representatives from around the world, took place in the UAE capital on February 3 and 4, during the landmark visit to the UAE of Pope Francis and Dr Ahmed Al Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al Azhar. The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces welcomed the organising committee of the event to Qasr Al Bahr Majlis on Monday. He praised members’ efforts, and said the UAE will always remain an “oasis of peace and goodness, which works to promote stability and security across the world”. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation, also attended the event. During the Human Fraternity Meeting, Pope Francis and Dr Al Tayeb, revered figures in the Catholic and Muslim faiths, unveiled a document calling on people across the globe to unite to bring about religious harmony and spread a vital message of peace.
