Sheikh Khalifa shares Ramadan goodwill abroad

The President, Sheikh Khalifa, has exchanged greetings with the leaders of Arab and Islamic countries to mark the first day of Ramadan on Thursday.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, also exchanged messages of goodwill for the holy month around the world, as did Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union and widow of the founding President Sheikh Zayed, sent her greetings to the wives of leaders of Islamic countries.

To celebrate the start of Ramadan, the Vice President ordered the release of 734 prisoners on Wednesday, after Sheikh Khalifa freed 879 on Tuesday. All of their debts will be settled.

The releases were to give the inmates a second chance and to reunite them with their families.

In the same spirit, Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi and Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Rulers of Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain, ordered that prisoners in their emirates be released.
