Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met the president of the Maldives on Sunday.
He conveyed the greetings of the UAE’s leaders to Maldives president Abdulla Yameen during the meeting in the country’s capital, Male.
Sheikh Abdullah also met Dunya Maumoon, the Maldives’ foreign minister, with whom he discussed issues of mutual interest, according to Wam, the state news agency.
She expressed appreciation for UAE support to her country towards humanitarian, economic, social and energy development projects.
“The geographical proximity between the UAE and the Maldives is a wonderful thing, so we must work together to promote tourism between the two countries,” Sheikh Abdullah said.
