ABU DHABI // Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, the UAE’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, has met with his Australian counterpart, Julie Bishop, in Canberra to discuss ways to strengthen relations between the countries.
During their discussion in the Australian capital, the leaders indicated they would work to increase trade and establish more joint ventures.
The goal of their meeting was to find ways to benefit from the economic advantages and excellent reputations of both countries, reported state news agency Wam.
Developments on the regional and international arenas and exchanging views on a number of issues of common concern were also discussed.
After the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah and his accompanying delegation attended a luncheon hosted in his honour by Ms Bishop.
Dr Obaid Al Ketbi, UAE Ambassador to Australia, and Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan, Director of the Department of East Asia and Pacific at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, were also present at the meeting.
