The Sharjah Citizens Debt Committee is to write off the debts of 78 Emiratis to the tune of Dh36.9 million.
The head of the committee, Rashid Al Sheikh, said the overall amount of debts settled, in ten batches, was Dh222.8m. This amount referred to 570 cases.
The debts were cleared on the orders of the Ruler, Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National reported.
Last November, the committee allocated more than Dh20.2m to clear the debts of 54 citizens.
