Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid has announced the launch of a campaign to provide 10 million meals to those in need. Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum, wife of the Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, will lead the country's biggest community campaign by providing meals or food parcels to support people and families during Ramadan. “The ’10 million meals’ campaign complements the rest of the country’s humanitarian campaigns to ensure no one sleeps hungry or in need in the UAE,” said Sheikh Mohammed. “Providing food for everyone, especially with the approaching holy month of Ramadan, is our priority during our battle against the pandemic.” The campaign will help unemployed people or those who have had salary cuts because of the coronavirus outbreak. “Feeding the hungry throughout the holy month of Ramadan allows us to practise compassion and kindness in this blessed month to overcome exceptional times united in peace,” said Sheikha Hind. The #10MillionMeals initiative has been launched in collaboration with the Social Solidarity Fund Against Covid-19, to provide food to the less fortunate. Companies, institutions and the public can contribute money to help the cause. Donations start from Dh8. Donors can visit www.10millionmeals.ae to buy a number of meals to be distributed. The money for the cause can be transferred online or through a text message. For in-kind donations of food supplies, parcels or other services, people can contact toll free 800 4006. The UAE Food Bank, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment and UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE) will implement the 10 million meals campaign with ministries, federal and local entities and humanitarian and charitable organisations in the UAE.
