Private UAE companies to be monitored for compliance with Emiratisation decree

Ministry enforces new rules that larger companies must employ Emirati occupational health and safety officer and data entry staff.

ABU DHABI // The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation will begin monitoring private companies on Monday to ensure they are complying with a recently announced decree about Emirati employment. Private industrial and construction companies that employ 500 or more workers must now hire at least one Emirati to fill the role of occupational health and safety officer.

Companies with more than 1,000 workers must hire at least two data entry Emirati employees.

Companies who fail to comply with the law “won’t receive work permits unless an Emirati occupational health and safety officer had been assigned,” according to Ministerial Decree No 711.
