National Service warns of legal action over work complaints

The National Service and Reserve Authority warned that it will begin to take legal action against employers who fail to protect privileges of employees while they undertake compulsory military service, due to a “growing” number of complaints related to job promotions and salaries.

The authority also received complaints about some employers who refrained from nominating candidates in line with federal law, according to the state news agency, Wam.

Last month, it had urged federal and local government departments and private companies to comply with Law No 6, which stipulates that during the period of national service, benefits and privileges, including bonuses and pensions will continue.
