Social development is a fundamental part of UAE Vision 2021, the Vice President said on Tuesday.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, also the Ruler of Dubai, said creating a social development culture “is an important index for progress and prosperity”.
The Vice President said: “Achieving this requires work methodology that keeps pace with future requirements so as to enable all societal categories to become more effective.”
The directives of the President, Sheikh Khalifa, “are inspirational and clear for achieving integrated social development that includes all categories of the community, taking into account requirements of each category”, he added.
Government services that fall under the social services category were in place to allow Emiratis “to qualify them to discharge their effective role in achieving prosperity”, the state news agency Wam said.
Sheikh Mohammed spoke about social development during a government innovative laboratory meeting organised by the Ministry of Social Affairs in Dubai on Tuesday.
A top priority of the country’s national work strategy, he said, was to make sure human resources allowed people to achieve their aspirations and boost social services.
Sheikh Mohammed also noted that the family was a “nucleus” of society, and the secret behind its success.
Other topics covered included the importance of providing decent living conditions to citizens. As a result, the Vice President called “for provision of all forms of support to them to sustain their role in development”, Wam said.
Part of the process also requires citizens to develop children’s capacities in the early stages of their lives, he said, adding that “genuine investment in early childhood is fundamental to the countries”.
Childcare in the UAE, said the Vice President, was inseparable from its perspectives on human rights, “including men, women, youths, children, workers, disabled people and others”.
Other officials present at the meeting included Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, the Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed Al Gergawi, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Mariam Al Roumi, the Minister of Social Affairs and Khalifa Saeed Suleiman, the Director General of the Department of Protocols and Hospitality in Dubai.
