Interpol Foundation to establish Abu Dhabi headquarters

ABU DHABI // The Ministry of Interior and Interpol Foundation for a Safer World on Wednesday signed an agreement to build the group’s “world bureau” headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

The foundation is independent from the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol) but supports its programmes, with the goal of promoting cooperation in fighting organised crime.

Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, attended the ceremony for the signing by Brig Hamad Al Amimi, director general of Federal Criminal Police at the ministry, and Elias Murr, president of the Interpol Foundation’s board.

The HQ will be a centre for the organisation’s work in the region, reported Wam, the state news agency.
