DUBAI // Innovation has become a well-established and effective work culture in the emirate and the wider UAE, Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, said on Wednesday.
This is the result of an integrated system aiming to provide an appropriate work environment to encourage creativity in various fields, he said, according to the state news agency, Wam.
His comments were made during the opening of a new innovation centre at the Thomson Reuters offices in the emirate.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening cooperation with companies to develop ideas in line with the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai the world’s most innovative city.
Mohammed Al Gergawi, Chairman of the Executive Office of Sheikh Mohammed, accompanied Sheikh Hamdan on the tour of the news agency’s facilities.
“We look forward to working closely with the Emirate of Dubai and its key institutions and competent departments to support this strategic partnership,” said Nadim Najjar, managing director of Thomson Reuters Middle East and North Africa.
The UAE Cabinet had, at the end of last year, designated 2015 as the Year of Innovation.
The strategy included 30 country-wide initiatives to help reach global benchmarks.
