ABU DHABI // The Cabinet on Sunday initiated a seven-year, seven-point scheme to communicate the Government’s plans to address the social priorities of UAE nationals.
The happiness of the Emirati people is the cornerstone of the Government’s work, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, said to mark the launch of the National Programme for Government Communication.
The needs and aspirations of Emiratis “are at the core of the development process as set by the UAE Vision 2021”, Sheikh Mohammed said.
The completion of the initiative is timed to coincide with the UAE’s golden jubilee celebrations in 2021.
It will include nationwide awareness and communication campaigns to educate the public about core issues in the community in cooperation with public and private sectors.
The programme will consist of communication campaigns with seven themes: Healthy Children, Cohesive Family, Quality Education, Green Ideas, Sustainable Food, Prosperous Future, and Diabetes-free UAE.
FNC members on Sunday congratulated the Cabinet on the launch of the programme.
“This shows we are on the right track with the right government which always treats its nationals and its people as its priorities,” said Mohammed Al Raqbani (Fujairah).
“The programme will also encourage nationals to participate directly in the government efforts. Such awareness campaigns help us safeguard against possible challenges in the future.”
Faisal Al Tunaiji (Ras Al Khaimah) said such Cabinet decisions showed the Government was listening to topics being discussed at the FNC.
“Most Cabinet decisions are the reflection of FNC discussions. It proves that the Government is listening to its people through its FNC members, which is so heartening to all of us in the country.”
The Cabinet also approved a decision to implement the Green Growth Strategy, which aims to ensure the UAE’s status as a global hub and successful model for the green economy and ensure a sustainable environment.
Other items on the agenda were the organisational structure of the UAE Space Agency, the 2015 budget for the General Pension and Social Security Authority, and the policy of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development on cultural development.
The Cabinet also approved the UAE’s membership of the Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, an independent intergovernmental body open to all member countries of the United Nations.
