Fujairah road set to reopen next week after month-long closure

FUJAIRAH // Al Nujaimat road will reopen next week after being closed for a month for maintenance that caused delays for parents dropping children at schools in the area.

“We started the construction works one month ago and 95 per cent of the work is done. The road will be reopened again next week,” said Salem Al Mukasah, manager of the public works department in Fujairah.

A 120-metre stretch was closed to repair cracks and the pavement, with a diversion put in place.

Residents were happy to hear the end of the delays was in sight.

“This is great news. It will make my life easier,” said Amaar Kamal, 36, from Syria.

“I take my 8-year-old girl to school and I experienced some delays because of the detour.”

The 1.7-kilometre road was opened in 2012 and it provides easy access to many educational institutions, shopping centres and Fujairah Hospital.
