Film warns on residency laws

ABU DHABI // The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department will from next week screen in 72 cinemas in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai an awareness film to caution against residency-law violations. The one-minute-long film aims to raise people’s awareness of the rules of social and financial dealings and features an employer who illegally employs workers until the final scene, when he admits his wrongdoings and receives punishment.

Through a short dramatic plot, the film tries to highlight the outcomes of failure to abide by residency laws. It ends with a direct message to the viewers: “Abiding by the residency law is a national duty ... don’t employ illegal workers and don’t be an enemy of security and society.”

Difference between fractional ownership and timeshare

Although similar in its appearance, the concept of a fractional title deed is unlike that of a timeshare, which usually involves multiple investors buying “time” in a property whereby the owner has the right to occupation for a specified period of time in any year, as opposed to the actual real estate, said John Peacock, Head of Indirect Tax and Conveyancing, BSA Ahmad Bin Hezeem & Associates, a law firm.
