DUBAI // The Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai is to place its consumer awareness logo on hundreds of thousands of Coca-Cola cans and delivery lorries. DED has launched a consumer rights awareness campaign in partnership with the beverage company. Adel Al Helou, senior manager of consumer protection at DED’s commercial compliance and consumer protection (CCCP) department, said the joint campaign was a good example of a public-private partnership that could add significant value to economic activity in Dubai. “DED rolls out varied awareness campaigns targeting both consumers as well as retailers,” Mr Al Helou said. “Such campaigns help to improve customer service in Dubai and bring a qualitative change to the emirate’s retail sector. “Coca-Cola delivering our message to the masses will make a significant impact, as they have visibility across all walks of life in Dubai and specifically, in almost all retail locations.” Deepak Kaul, managing director of AGL Coca-Cola, said: “We are delighted to collaborate with DED in a joint effort to foster consumer awareness and help in empowering consumer protection. “AGL Coca-Cola placed the consumer awareness logo on our 355 millilitre cans in March 2015, to mark the local and global Consumer Rights Day. We have also branded our lorries plying across Dubai with the consumer rights message.” roueiti@thenational.ae
