Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, thanked local organisations that have helped families and people who have been affected by the coronavirus. “Greetings to those who have contributed with us humanely to mitigate the effects of the pandemic on affected families and workers' housing,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted. "Our real gain in this crisis is our noble human values." He thanked Dubai Islamic Bank, Emaar, Dar Al Bar Society and the Mohammed bin Rashid Humanitarian Foundation, with thousands of volunteers who have helped in the past few weeks. On April 19, Sheikh Mohammed launched a campaign to provide 10 million meals to those in need. “The ’10 million meals’ campaign complements the rest of the country’s humanitarian campaigns to ensure no one sleeps hungry or in need in the UAE,” he said when launching the campaign. “Providing food for everyone, especially with the approaching holy month of Ramadan, is our priority during our battle against the pandemic.” The campaign is geared to help unemployed people or those who have had salary cuts because of the coronavirus outbreak.
