Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid met David Beasley, executive director of the United Nations World Food Programme, to discuss the role played by charitable organisations that help underprivileged nations tackle the Covid-19 pandemic. The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai met Mr Beasley at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi on Monday. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs also attended the meeting. The leaders spoke of the hardships that poorer nations face due to shortages of food and medical supplies. The UN official appreciated the humanitarian role played by UAE charities and organisations to help the needy, particularly those in developing countries. He highlighted the humanitarian missions carried out by Dubai's International Humanitarian City in providing essential food supplies during the pandemic.
