Restrictions on recreational boating have been eased in Sharjah as trip organisers can resume operations provided they follow strict precautionary measures that are in place amid the Covid-19 outbreak. Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD) said establishments operating in the maritime leisure sector in the emirate must follow strict measures to make sure their staff and those on board are safe. The decision was taken after keeping in mind all the necessary preventive measures to contain the spread of the virus, said the department. Random inspections will be carried out to ensure operators follow the strict guidelines. “This comes following a study and analysis carried out by the department in cooperation with various concerned authorities,” said Sultan Abdullah Al Suwaidi, chairman of SEDD. All marine activities in Sharjah were suspended last month due to the pandemic.
