Alternative service recruits have been called up

The National Service and Reserve Authority has called up the first batch of alternative service recruits. These include Emiratis with poor fitness levels who require special care and those suffering from chronic diseases. These recruits will hold administrative and technical civil jobs. The authority said alternative service recruits will arrive in two batches: the first on March 29 and the second in September.

On Wednesday, via social media, the authority confirmed that it contacted all Emiratis who will join civil entities through this first batch of alternative service to provide them with all the necessary information and details about their tasks. The group joining the second batch will be contacted at a later time.

The Authority explained that those joining the alternative service are either unemployed, self-employed or entrepreneurs who will receive monthly remuneration accordingly with Federal Decree No. 117 of 2014 in remuneration of national service and reserve service recruits, whereas rules applicable to national "military" service recruits are applicable to employees of both public and private sectors.

Alternative service is a national service performed over a limited time period by those who did not satisfy the conditions of admission and medical fitness. The duration of the service is equal to that of national service and determined accordingly with academic qualifications.
